The Chinese are becoming known for having the fastest trains in the world, and they’d like to keep it that way. The fastest train in the world which began service back in October in China, and the Chinese already have plans to top their already stunning high-speed record.

The China Daily has reported that Beijing, China’s Capital City, is aiming to be completely Wi-Fi by the end of 2011. According to senior local officials areas within the fifth ring road and the central regions of Beijing’s suburbs will have access to the internet via Wi-Fi hotspots, essentially turning Beijing in to a “Wireless City”.

Well that exact question was asked on Quora earlier this month, and the guys over at TechRice came up with the best response. Basically the answer is, it’s already been done. The Chinese site is called Zhihu (知乎), which means “know everything” in Chinese, and it’s almost an exact replica of it’s American counterpart. It hasn’t gone public yet, but will most likely be making it’s Shanzhai debut soon.
Earlier this month we reported that Yosion Technology, the creators of the Apple Peel 520, have announced that they’ll be releasing a second generation of their popular device. Well, Yosion has been kind enough to release a bit of video of some hands-on action with this sweet piece of tech. The latest generation Apple Peel comes with a few added features, including room for both the back and front facing cameras on the latest generation iPod Touch. Best of all, it seems that the added GPRS capability works, making the transformation from iTouch to iPhone even more seamless.

Meizu’s latest firmware update for the M9 brings with it what is possibly the most important thing available to Android users, the Android Market. Along with Android Market, there are a few minor bug fixes that It’s somewhat disappointing and pathetic that it’s taken Meizu nearly a month to bring what is essentially a bare essential to it’s users. But considering the issues many brand-name manufacturers are having with updating their Android firmware, I guess I should be impressed.

The number of internet users in China has risen to a staggering 457 million in 2010. That’s more the entire population of the United States and Russia combined! The news comes from the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) whose latest shows an increase of more that 73.3 million internet users in the last year. By the numbers that’s an increase of 5.4 percent year on year, and means that now approximately 34.3 percent of Chinese citizens now use the internet. What’s even more impressive is the number of new mobile web users….

It’s been reported that there was a crackdown on Shanzhai phone factories last week in Shenzhen. The authorities confiscated more than 4800 Shanzhai phones and 8000 units of other Shanzhai hardware. 9 people were also arrested in the raids for Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) infringement. Could this be the beginning of the end for Shanzhai knockoffs?

It looks like users of Meizu’s popular new flagship device, the M9 smartphone, will be getting a Chinese New Years present. Jack Wong has announced on the Meizu Forums that a Meizu version of Anroid 2.3 will be available to users on Chinese New Years. He’s of course added a disclaimer stating that “if its late don’t blame me I’m just telling you what my engineer told me.”
