Back at the beginning of January Yosion announced that they would be releasing the 2nd Generation of the Apple Peel 520. Well Yosion, the naughty company that they are, decided to be a bit of a tease and release some more photos of the highly anticipated device. Check out a video of some lucky guy getting his hands-on the iTouch transforming 2nd Gen Apple Peel 520.

Decent low-cost tablets are hard to come by these days, but every once in a while the price meets performance. On our weekly trip to the grey markets we came across the Ouku Tab, and decided to give it a whirl. To be honest it was the price that caught our eye, but after playing with the demo a bit we were convinced of it’s potential. We’ve brought it home, and will have the hands-on review for you in the next couple days!
If you didn’t know, today is Alan Alexander Milne’s birthday! “Who is the hell is this guy?” you may ask…and I would say you should be ashamed of yourself! He is only the creator of one of the greatest childrens cartoons of all time, Winnie-the-Pooh. It just so happens that we’ve found the perfect thing to commemorate Alan’s Birthday during our weekly grew market tour, Winnie-the-Pooh gadgets! It seems that the Chinese love that heart warming little bear as much as
me my niece.

Turns out that Shanzhai isn’t tech exclusive in China, and the Police in Shanghai are cracking down. It seems that there’s massive counterfeit market for sex drugs such as Viagra. In November 2008, illegal Chinese-made sex pills made headlines when ten men in Singapore died rather gruesome deaths after taking them. For the two years following, Shanghai authorities have struggled to reign in the counterfeit Viagra market but have been held back by a bureaucratic loophole.

Introducing the Umeox Apollo, the Chinese manufacturers latest Android powered device which also happens to gather it’s power from the SUN! Umeox is best known for the V3, a .58cm thick low cost phone which was released at MWC2010. This solar powered android device is the first of it’s kind that actually looks as though it’ll head in to production. I’ve always doubted the practicality of solar powered mobile devices, but this device has swayed my opinion and has me hopeful for the future.

ZTE has unveiled their latest flagship mobile device, the ZTE Skate, at Mobile World Congress 2011 (MWC 2011) in Barcelona. From what we’ve seen and heard so far, ZTE’s latest attempt at a high end mobile device has been somewhat successful. The Skate comes packed with 4.3″ touchscreen and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It has an 800Mhz processor and a 200Mhz GPU, but I’m skeptical as to whether that’s enough power to allow the Skate to be called a “high-end” device. What do you think of the ZTE Skate?

If you hadn’t heard, the Chinese government uses a form of weather modification called Cloud Seeding. They did just that back during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, and they’re still up to it. If you follow us on twitter you would know that I was extremely excited for the snow we got last week, as it is the longest the Beijing had gone without any form of precipitation in nearly 60 years leading to a +3 month drought. What’s cool is what they used to seed the clouds.

One of the latest worthwhile smartphones on it’s way out of Shenzhen is the Apanda A100. Like Meizu did with the M9, Apanda has decided to design a quality phone that can actually compete with popular Android phones like the Samsung Galaxy S. With a 4.3″ capacitive touch-screen and Android 2.3 installed, the A100 is bound to draw some attention as long as the price is right.

According to market analysts Sina Weibo is due to surpass twitter in number of users later this year. The relatively new Chinese microblogging site has been getting a lot of attention lately, and to be honest, I’m very interested myself. Many call Weibo the Twitter of China, but if that’s true then why the possible change in hierarchy?
