This week’s DigiWars episode from ZenithKnight is a brilliant comment on the processor market these days. Everyone seems to forget that behind every device there’s a processor diligently working away. People also seem to forget that behind that processor is a company whose priority is most likely making some cash.

Recently a Chinese company showed off their version of PopCap’s Plants vs. Zombies game in Guangzhou China. It was uniquely named Plants vs. Zombies. That’s right, not only have they completely ripped off the game concept and design, but they were too lazy to even come up with a new name. What is this world coming to!? The Chinese love to take popular games and make them their own, as they did with the Angry Birds carnival stall back in January, but this is 100% straight shameless plagiarism.

Every year in June for the last few years Apple has released a new iPhone like clock work at WWDC. Although it seems they may not be this year I still have confidence that in 40 years, the iPhone 44 will be released. Charlie Custer, resident geek at The World of Chinese, and ChinaGeeks blogger, found an amazing video of what the iWorld will be like at that point in the future. You’ll be shocked at how awesome/awful the future seems.

Last week Amazon’s Android App Store finally went live, and it was about time too. All of us Android users in China have basically been stuck using Google’s (unfortunately crappy) Android Market. The problem with the Android Market isn’t the number of apps, or it’s ease of use. It’s problem is the fact that Android users here are not allowed purchase any of the paid apps available.

For those of us living in China, I’ve got some great news. It seems that IMAX popularity has grown so much that deals have been made to build over 177 new IMAX cinemas throughout China over the next few years. This spike in popularity of IMAX in China was largely due to the release of Avatar last summer, which was HUGELY successful with over US$ 207 Million in sales. The craziest thing about this is that there were only 445 IMAX theaters last year, meaning that nearly 1/3 of all IMAX theaters will eventually be located in China.
After months of rumors Yosion have finally announced the expected release date of the 2nd generation of the Apple Peel 520, their popular iPod Touch transforming device. At the beginning of January they told us of their plans to release a second generation of the popular device, and have been slowly torturing fans with photos and short video clips. With some key features added, the Peel 520 is now better than ever.

Honeycomb only recently hit the market with the release of the Motorola Xoom, and Chinese manufacturers have been quick to proclaim they’ll be soon releasing Android 3.0 tablets of their own. It seemed as though Android 2.3 would be completely skipped, until we saw this.

So the other day I came home and while parking my scooter I found that a new car sat parked in a parking spot nearby. The car was the Mini-E, BMW’s all-electric zero emissions vehicle. They’ve been producing them since 2009, but only around 600 people have had the privilege of testing out what is possibly the future of cars. It seems that the test vehicles have now many their way to Beijing as part of a 5 month road test.
