The Meizu M8 for M9 trade-in program that begun on May 10th seems to be a success as a member of Meizu Me, the popular Meizu forum, has received their brand new M9. This is pretty exciting news, and a huge PR and reputation boost for Meizu which is quickly becoming one of the best and most trusted cell phone brands in China.

Meizu M9 Gets Android 2.3 Update And Added Features

Meizu recently released the latest firmware update for their flagship device, the Meizu M9. This latest update brought with it a long awaited upgrade from the Android 2.2 OS to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It’s been a long time coming, considering Jack Wong pronounced that an update to Gingerbread was due out at the beginning of Februrary.

Meizu M9II Photo Released, Officially Renamed The Meizu MX

Jack Wong, CEO of Meizu, has released a teaser photo of the long anticipated Meizu M9II which has now been renamed to the Meizu MX. MX is apparently short for “Meng Xiang” (梦想) which means “Dream” in English. Mr. Wong also announced that the 16GB MX will have a price tag of RMB3580 (~US$ 550), a massive increase over the original M9′s RMB2,699 (~US$ 413) price tag. You can chalk that up to some pretty great specs, some of which have already been released.

The date for Meizu’s planned update of the M9 to Android 2.3 Gingerbread has come, and gone. M9 owners everywhere were disappointed, and rightfully so, but it seems that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. The guys over at GizChina found that a Meizu engineer has posted photos online showing off an M9 running the coveted Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, and showing off the devices mind blowing benchmark speed.

Meizu CEO Jack Wong has stated that he wants to cease the bundling of the UP0510 power adapter with their phones due to quality issues. He posted his comments on the official Meizu forums, and they’ve even made it in to the newspapers. Jack Wong had already said in the past that he doesn’t use the official Meizu charger due to it’s inconsistencies. Months back the company even decided to prolong the warranty on the charger due to complaints.

It’s only been about a month since the release of the Meizu M9, and the genious development team known as LBE have already rooted Meizu’s flagship device. This is the same group who hacked the Meizu M8 to run Android 2.2 a little while back. Although this is great news, it’s not really that important considering Meizu are planning to release an Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) update in the coming days.
