Linkedin Planning To Expand In China

It seems that Linkedin has plans to expand it’s business in china sometime soon. The CEO of LinkedIn, a professional social networking site, has openly talked about possible problems and hurdles the company will have to overcome if they plan to succeed in establishing a larger user base, but he said they are willing to possibly make a go of it. Linkedin is one of the few remaining western social networking sites still unblocked by the Great Firewall of China.

I’ve always been a bit curious about social media and its uses. In the US and most of Europe it’s pretty simple, Facebook and Twitter are the dominant platforms. Asia however is a completely different sort of beast, and many countries here have their own social media platforms that are better tailored to the language and social culture, like China.

Meizu M9 Gets Android 2.3 Update And Added Features

Meizu recently released the latest firmware update for their flagship device, the Meizu M9. This latest update brought with it a long awaited upgrade from the Android 2.2 OS to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It’s been a long time coming, considering Jack Wong pronounced that an update to Gingerbread was due out at the beginning of Februrary.

Jack Dorsey Coming To China, Bringing Twitter With Him?

It seems that 2011 may be the year of American social media in China. A re-entry in to China by Facebook has all but been confirmed with it’s probable Baidu partnership. It’s now been rumored that Jack Dorsey, Co-Founder and Chairman of Twitter, will be making a trip to Shanghai in May. The rumor has been circulating on Chinese blogs, and people are saying the visit has been confirmed, but the purpose of this trip is not clear so far.

Meizu CEO Jack Wong Planning US Expansion!

Right on the heals of the photo release of the Meizu MX, Jack Wong has dropped another bombshell. He’s announced his plans to export Meizu products to the United States, and plans to open an official Meizu office in California.

Meizu M9II Photo Released, Officially Renamed The Meizu MX

Jack Wong, CEO of Meizu, has released a teaser photo of the long anticipated Meizu M9II which has now been renamed to the Meizu MX. MX is apparently short for “Meng Xiang” (梦想) which means “Dream” in English. Mr. Wong also announced that the 16GB MX will have a price tag of RMB3580 (~US$ 550), a massive increase over the original M9′s RMB2,699 (~US$ 413) price tag. You can chalk that up to some pretty great specs, some of which have already been released.

Apanda A100 Specs Page Updated, Release Imminent?

A little while back we gave you a sneak peak at the Apanda A100, a 4.3-inch Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone. There was a rumor that the A100 would release at the end of March, but it’s already a couple weeks in to April and there’s been no word from the company. Recently the company has updated the specs page on their website which got us thinking. Does this update signal an imminent release?
