Chinese Prisoners Forced To Farm Digital WoW Gold
Prisoners at a Chinese labor camp are allegedly being forced to spend their hard time farming gold on World of Warcraft.Supposedly the guards of the facility were able to make between RMB 5,000 and 6,000 (~US$ 770-925) a day by selling the gold to black market retailers of the online currency. I’m not really sure how I feel about this, as I’ve played WoW for many years, and have admittedly purchased gold from retailers in the past. After reading more of the article you may change your mind about purchasing gold in the future.

Wine Makers/Drunks Develop The MOPS Android Gaming Phone
The development of Android as a mobile gaming OS has been on the up and up, which I’m happy about. Until now though, I’d never seen a supposedly dedicated gaming Android phone that actually had an potential. Well it seems that developers just needed a bit of assistance from our good buddy alcohol to come up with a brilliant design.

Shanzhai Samsung Nexus S To Be Released
For those serious Android and Google fans out there like myself, there’s really only one option when buying a new phone, and that’s Google’s own Samsung Nexus S. If you’ve been following Gadgets Republic a while you’ll have seen me profess my obsession with Anroid, but I never mentioned that I personally own the Samsung Nexus S. If I were allowed to use only one word to describe my feelings for the device, it would be LOVE. Shanzhai developers have finally gotten around to making a knockoff, but the question remains….have they done the original justice?

Apple Peel 520 Knockoff Gives Your iPhone Triple SIM Powers! (Video)
We’ve all heard of the Apple Peel 520 and it’s ability to turn the latest generation iPod Touch in to an iPhone 4. Well the guys over at the Shanghaiist have found a sweet knockoff of the Apple Peel that not only has the Peel 520′s transforming abilities, but adds triple SIM card compatibility as well. Personally, I’m not sure what the obsession with multi-SIM compatible phones are but it’s still a pretty cool feature.

Gooapple Phone Now Available For Pre-Order
The Gooapple G22 Phone, otherwise known as the Spawn of Satan, has been priced and is now available for pre-order. The phone actually looks pretty sweet in the hands-on video we saw before, even though it’s an iPhone 4 clone. As a pre-order special, the G22 is priced at RMB999 (US$ 152), but that will jump to 1500RMB (US$ 230) once the pre-order stock is sold out.

Introducing the Gooapple G22: The Unholy Spawn of Google and Apple (Video)
We’ve seen plenty of Shanzhai gimmicks over the years but this is by far the most disturbing yet. It’s the Gooapple phone, and it’s basically the spawn of Satan’s attempt at creating a phone. As a pretty serious Android fan I’m feeling a bit quezy looking at the combination of both my favorite and most despised tech icons (although that could just be lunch). The designers didn’t put much thought into what my feelings would be on the phone’s branding, but they have actually put some thought in to it’s specs. At the end of the day though, the best thing about the G22 is it’s mind blowing boot up intro.

Shameless Chinese Knockoff of Plants vs. Zombies Game
Recently a Chinese company showed off their version of PopCap’s Plants vs. Zombies game in Guangzhou China. It was uniquely named Plants vs. Zombies. That’s right, not only have they completely ripped off the game concept and design, but they were too lazy to even come up with a new name. What is this world coming to!? The Chinese love to take popular games and make them their own, as they did with the Angry Birds carnival stall back in January, but this is 100% straight shameless plagiarism.

China Making it Harder for VPN Users
It seems that many users of the VPN provider Witopia (one of my personal favorites) have been having problems using the service in China. So many users have been reporting problems in fact that the company is recommending they report problems via e-mail instead of its live support service.

Your Social Networking Site Isn’t Popular Until It Has A Chinese Clone
The Chinese have been known to make Shanzhai everything, from cell phones to cars. As social networking and media sites begin to take off around the world the chinese are stuck behind the Great Firewall of China (GFW) without access to them. In this time of need the Chinese begin doing what they do best…make clones. 9gag designer Toxicat has put together a great graphic comparing genuine and clone.
